Only 1-0 but I'll take that ....we really did need a win

Give Carsley the job now

Four points from six and a clean sheet at last

Kuszack was MOTM for me though, followed by Dean & Colin. We are so much more exciting to watch with players like Boga, Vassell, NSue, Colin & still have Adams & Jota to come back 😊

Kuszczak was magnificent and kept us in the game time and time again.

Apart from his pass for the goal, Maghoma looked as if he wasn't interested.

It's a good job we won because I'm absolutely drenched and it would have been a very miserable train journey back.

Very scrappy game, but it's 3 points.

Just back from match.

Well done to the players. You stuck together and played as a team and ground out a great win in atrocious weather against good opponents.

Good turnout as well given the weather and past results.

So pleasing to see Carsley and his coaches motivated from the dugout.

Give him the job. Talk him into it.

Win on Saturday and he already equals the useless Italian clowns number of wins.

Very very chuffed with the win but bloody hell watching the highlights back that N'Doye miss was even worse than seeing it live, really hope he can improve on the ball or I'd drop him for Kieftenbeld/Walsh, I'm just not convinced with him at all he gives the ball away so many times. Big shout out to kuzszack though he's been brilliant in both games since being back in the team, Stockdale will have a hell of a job getting no1 position back. KRO! Great much needed 3 points! Now let's build on this Saturday!

My ratings will probably be very different to others because I've been tough (for me) on some players who I felt could do better.

Kuszak 7 I don't know how he made a couple of those saves. They were incredible and helped turn the game in our favour. I would have given him 8, but his kicking was poor at times when he received back passes. That said, some of those back passes were suicidal.

N'Sue 6 He really worries me in defence and his delivery in attack was poor.
Morrison 7 Generally sound, but I'm convinced he thought we were kicking the other way with the number of back passes he put in. Missed a couple of vital headers, but won most of the rest.
Dean 7.5 The best of our defenders. Apart from giving away one sloppy corner at the start he had a very good game, especially in the second half when he prevented shots on goal time and time again, and cleared Bannan's last minute effort by heading it away off the line.
Colin 7 Lost the ball in dangerous positions on a couple of occasions, but generally sound.

Maghoma 6 I thought he had a very poor game, apart from two good passes one of which created our goal. He looked like he didn't want to be on the pitch at times and just stood there watching instead of getting into the right position. He was quite rightly roasted by Nsue and Morrison at one stage for not moving to mark his man. I don't think he liked the rain. Far too many wasted passes from him as well.
N'Doye 6 Great in the air and often tough in the tackle, but cannot usually pass wind, although he did put in one good cross field pass to Maghoma.
Gardner 6.5 He continues to disappoint me. He is slow and cumbersome and his free kicks and corners are woeful.
Davies 7.5 The best of the midfield players. He was tigerish as usual.
Boga 7 Loads of skill, but often ran into blind alleys and no end product. I hope he's not going to be a player who is pleasing on the eye but fails to deliver.

Juka 7.5 He had a really good game, despite being manhandled often by their centre half. He held the ball up well, brought others into play and worked tirelessly.

Subs
Vassell 7.5 Well taken goal and showed good pace.
Gallagher 7 Won a lot of balls in the air when he came on and put their defenders under pressure by harrying them at every opportunity.
Roberts Not on long enough to rate.

Ref 7 A decent game, but did miss some of the shirt pulling and holding by their centre half.

Was a very scrappy game overall, especially the first half with our 9-1 formation. More or less agree with those ratings Blacksmith. At least two great saves from Kuszak. Although his kicking is dodgy he certainly commands his area with authority, something I'm not too sure Stockdale does as well. Still not sure about Dean either. Shaky start though he did look better the longer the game went on. Same for Colin who gave the ball away in dangerous areas too many times for my liking. Considering how well he played at Derby (and 1st half v Preston) Boga wasn't really involved enough for me for someone with his pace and skill. Am just thankful for a win though!

I agree 100% with the following comments Carsley made about the performance of Jutkiewicz.

Lukas did really well, he pressed and he harried on what was a difficult night for him. Isaac will get all the credit for getting the goal but what Lukas did tonight won’t go unnoticed.

Nice to see that Gallagher has worked out that you need to run towards the ball to win it in the air too...

I pretty much agree with all of that mate only change I'd make is I'd give N'Doye a 4. Was good to see Davis back to his best aswell last night thought he was great in midfield.

I think people are being a little harsh on N'doye. I thought he held his position well in the middle of the park, which allowed Gardner to get more involved, and won some crucial tackles and headers. Some of his distribution wasn't brilliant, but he weren't the only one. I was sat in the Tilton and I could hear him and see him winding the other players up, getting them going. His miss looked worse on TV than at the game, from where we sat it looked like the keeper closed him down quickly and he rushed his shot. But let's face it, passing and scoring definitely ain't the strongest part of his game

I agree, while some of his passing was suspect at best the "ugly" side of the game he does very well. He also made some great headers on defensive corners, that one in injury time sticks in my head.
